Not The Splash He Would Have Wanted

The idiomatic expression “making a splash” is oftentimes used with a positive connotation. However, in BBC sports anchor Mike Bushell’s experience in 2018 while interviewing swimmers of the England Commonwealth Games, he took it quite literally when he took a wrong step and fell into the pool.

What’s worse is that he even noted that he should be careful due to his sound pack. After congratulating the gang for their accomplishment, Bushell fell and was soaking. He didn’t even manage to save his mic from getting wet. In the end, the interview was cut short and the anchor also wasn’t able to bring it back to the studio.
